ZAPATA: INTER FACE DIFFICULTY FOR STRIKER
Inter Milan have made Atalanta striker Duvan Zapata their top target in the quest to sign a new striker this summer. This is according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia which also stated that the Serie A champions are finding it difficult to sign the Colombia national team player.Atalanta are said to be reluctant to part with the Colombia attacker unless they sign a replacement for him.
Inter Milan have a little less than two weeks to secure the transfer of Zapata from Atalanta or turn attention to other transfer targets if his club remains adamant that they won’t sell the Colombia international until a replacement has been signed.
Some of the striker alternatives for Colombia player Zapata include Dutch international WoutWeghorst of VFL Wolfsburg in the German Bundesliga, Lazio attacker Joaquin Correa, and Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne who was part of the victorious Italy squad at Euro 2020.
Correa is the preferred striker target of Inter Milan head coach Simone Inzaghi who replaced compatriot Antonio Conte this summer. Correa and Inzaghi worked together at Lazio.
Inter Milan are keen to sign a new striker between now and the rest of this summer’s transfer window despite the arrival of EdinDzeko from AS Roma. The veteran Bosnian player joins Lautaro Martinez as the main strikers at the San Siro ahead of the start of their title defence this weekend.
The Nerazzuri believe they have not replaced RomeluLukakusince he moved to Chelsea for a fee believed to be around £98m. They don’t see Dzeko as the direct replacement for Lukaku who would make his debut for Chelsea for the second time in the London Derby clash with Arsenal.
