UNITED INTERESTED IN COLOMBIAN ACE
Manchester United have been linked with a move for Colombian forward Duvan Zapata, as per reports from Italy. The Atalanta forward has been in great form in the past 12 months and has emerged as one of the best strikers in the Italian League. His good performances were a key reason for Atalanta’s surprise qualification to the Champions League last season.
It is understood that Manchester United have reached out to Zapata representatives regarding a transfer in the winter window. Manchester United have endured a difficult start to the season with the club struggling to score goals. Despite spending big on the defence with the likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire making big money moves.
The summer exits of Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku have robbed the club of added firepower upfront. England forward Marcus Rashford has failed to hit expectations and the club are looking to sign another forward. It is understood that Atalanta wants to keep Zapata but could be forced to sell if the price is right.
Zapata is an old fashioned number 9 capable of playing with his back to the goal and scoring goals. He is deceptively quick and has shown his ability to deliver in key moments. The Colombian ace has continued from where he left from last season netting 6 goals in 7 League games this season.
He would have little time to adjust to the EPL due to his key attributes. The 28-year-old is strong and capable of riding the challenges that the EPL would throw to him. Manchester United fans have been crying out for an effective scorer. Zapata could just be the player that could resolve this lingering issue in the attack for the Red Devils.
