ALL CHANGE IN BRAZIL
Lodeiro was expected to have a major impact at Corinthians when he came to the club last year, but the player has struggled for first-team opportunities. Former manager Mano Menezes did not fancy the attacking midfielder for much of the league campaign.
As a result, transfer rumours have come out suggesting that Argentine outfit Boca Juniors may be interested in making a move for the player. The player made only seven appearances in the Brazilian Serie A last season. Hence, Boca Juniors are looking to take him out of the Corinthians misery by signing him on a loan deal till the end of the campaign.
New Corinthians manager Tite, though, has confirmed that Lodeiro remains in his plans and if he does not intend to do away with the attacking midfielder. After making a great start to the state championships, Corinthians are leading the table with a two-point advantage over Ponte Preta. They have played only three matches so far.
Just as with the 25-year-old, there are also rumours surrounding Jádson. The 31-year-old was a major contributor to the club’s fourth place finish in the league last season. However, Flamengo are looking to take advantage of the fact that Jádson lost his place in the starting line-up towards the end of the last calendar year – and the latest football betting suggests he’ll be moving on before too long, no matter what the club say.
“For me, Jádson isn’t going out. He’s a Corinthians player and he’s valued by Corinthians. I want a strong group. Lodeiro is a quality player and it’s essential. What others say doesn’t matter,” said the Corinthians manager. The team recovered quickly from the 1-1 draw against Once Caldas in the Copa Libertadores to win 2-1 against Botafogo in the league match. The club’s next Copa Libertadores match will be a mammoth clash against São Paulo at home. Danubio and San Lorenzo are the other teams in their Copa Libertadores group stages.
